Four skeletal demos capturing the raw, unpolished origins of Glasgow's polka-dot pop duo. Tape-hissed synth-pop that feels both intimate and ghostly.
2003 · Night School
This EP is a time capsule of a very specific moment in the Glasgow underground. It strips away the layers of lace and the studio sheen that would later define Strawberry Switchblade, leaving behind the bare bones of their songwriting. The sound is defined by a heavy layer of tape hiss and the rhythmic pulse of a primitive drum machine, creating a sonic environment that feels like a private rehearsal captured on a cassette recorder in a small bedroom. It is pop music at its most fragile and honest.
