26 Miles

Released in 2003, 26 Miles is the second solo effort from Sean Watkins, arriving during the height of his success with the progressive bluegrass trio Nickel Creek. While his debut was more firmly rooted in instrumental prowess, 26 Miles represents a significant evolution toward a singer-songwriter identity. The album is notable for its collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and producer Jon Brion, whose influence is felt in the lush, vintage keyboard textures and the slightly off-kilter, pop-inflected arrangements.
