A thirty-minute avant-garde marathon of jagged riffs and mechanical feedback. It captures the sound of a virtuoso dismantling his own technique in real-time.
November 1, 2015 · Not On Label (Buckethead Self-released)
365 Days Til Halloween: Smash is a grueling, immersive experience that functions more as a sonic endurance test than a traditional album. Consisting of a single thirty-minute track, it eschews the melodic sensibilities found in Buckethead's more accessible work in favor of a jagged, industrial-tinged exploration of noise and rhythm. The guitar work is percussive and abrasive, often mimicking the sound of malfunctioning machinery or digital glitches. It is the sound of a virtuoso deliberately breaking his tools to see what new, ugly sounds can be extracted from the wreckage.
