Another Passenger

Released in 1976, Another Passenger is Carly Simon's sixth studio album and marks a significant stylistic pivot. Moving away from the orchestral pop of Richard Perry, Simon collaborated with producer Ted Templeman to capture a more 'band-oriented' sound. The album is notable for its heavy involvement from members of The Doobie Brothers and Little Feat, which introduced elements of blue-eyed soul and funk-inflected rock into her repertoire. Despite being one of her most critically acclaimed works - with Rolling Stone's Ken Tucker hailing it as her best - it underperformed commercially compared to her previous chart-toppers. The record features the original version of 'It Keeps You Runnin'', later made famous by the Doobie Brothers themselves.
