Atlas: Oceans

Atlas: Oceans is the second installment in the 'Atlas' series by Sleeping at Last (the project of Ryan O'Neal), a massive multi-year conceptual undertaking. Following the 'Land' EP, 'Oceans' shifts the sonic palette toward more fluid, expansive arrangements. Each of the five tracks is named after a major ocean, with O'Neal utilizing specific musical motifs to represent their unique characters - from the relatively brisk and bright 'Pacific' to the chilling, sparse 'Arctic.' Critically, the EP is noted for its high production value, blending traditional chamber instruments with subtle electronic textures to achieve a 'submerged' aesthetic.
