Attack on God

Released in 2005, Attack on God represents the second full-length chapter for Ukraine's Semargl. Recorded at the renowned Hertz Studio in Poland - famed for its work with Behemoth and Vader - the album possesses a distinct sonic punch characterized by triggered drums and surgical guitar tracking. While the band would later become famous for a radical shift into 'Industrial Pop-Metal,' this release is firmly rooted in the Black/Death tradition. The lineup features the core trio of Rutarp, Kirkill, and Morthvarg, supplemented by Shamala's symphonic keyboard arrangements which add a cinematic, albeit dark, layer to the compositions. Critically, it is often cited as the band's most 'pure' metal effort, showcasing a technical proficiency and a level of aggression that would eventually be traded for dancefloor accessibility. The 2006 Deathgasm Records re-issue helped solidify its cult status among Western extreme metal fans.
