Black‐Ash Inheritance

Released in 1997 as a bridge between the landmark albums The Jester Race and Whoracle, Black-Ash Inheritance serves as a definitive artifact of the Gothenburg melodic death metal scene. Recorded at the legendary Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström, the EP captures In Flames during their most creatively fertile period. The four tracks include the fan-favorite 'Goliaths Disarm Their Davids' and a live version of 'Gyroscope,' showcasing the band's ability to translate complex studio harmonies into a visceral live setting. Sonically, it is characterized by the 'Gothenburg sound' - a fusion of Iron Maiden-esque twin guitar leads with the aggression and vocal intensity of death metal.
