Body and Soul

Released in early 2020, Body and Soul is a four-track EP that exemplifies Beastmaker's dedication to the 'vintage doom' revival. Led by Trevor William Church, the project leans heavily into the sonic signatures of the 1970s, specifically referencing the proto-metal of Black Sabbath and the occult rock of Pentagram. The recording is characterized by extreme analog warmth and tape saturation, giving it a tactile, gritty quality that separates it from the polished production of contemporary metal. While Beastmaker has released a prolific amount of material in short bursts, Body and Soul stands out for its concise songwriting and particularly melodic vocal performances. It serves as a bridge between their more aggressive stoner-rock tendencies and a more atmospheric, horror-influenced sound.
