Released in 2024, CD Wallet represents the most significant stylistic shift in the Homeshake catalog to date. Moving away from the 'slacker R&B' and electronic textures of breakthrough albums like Midnight Snack, Peter Sagar returns to his roots as a guitar player. The album is a conceptual and sonic homage to his formative years in Edmonton, Alberta, utilizing heavy distortion, slowcore tempos, and a minimalist rock trio setup. Recorded at his home studio in Toronto, the album eschews the pitch-shifted vocal effects and lush synthesizers of his previous work in favor of a raw, 'plugged-in' sound. Critics noted the influence of 90s alternative rock and the Pacific Northwest indie scene, marking it as a mature, if unexpected, evolution of his lo-fi aesthetic. The closing track, 'Listerine', serves as a centerpiece, stretching his new guitar-driven vocabulary into a nearly ten-minute exercise in tension and repetition.
