Challenger

Released in 2012 via Rise Records, Challenger is the third studio album by Memphis May Fire and is widely considered their commercial and creative breakthrough. Following the success of The Hollow, this album solidified the band's transition from a Southern-rock influenced post-hardcore act into a premier metalcore powerhouse. It marked the debut of rhythm guitarist Anthony Sepe, whose tight integration with lead guitarist Kellen McGregor helped define the album's signature rhythmic 'bounce.' The record debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200, a significant feat for the genre at the time. Sonically, it is characterized by its high-fidelity production, courtesy of Cameron Mizell, which emphasized clarity and punch. The album is notable for its guest appearances, most famously Kellin Quinn on 'Miles Away,' which became a genre-defining ballad.
