Confession

Released in 2003, Confession represents the commercial and creative zenith of Ill Niño. Following their debut 'Revolution Revolución', this sophomore effort saw the band refining their 'Latin metal' sound into a more melodic, radio-friendly format without sacrificing their signature tribal elements. Produced by Bob Marlette, the album features a significant lineup change with Ahrue Luster (ex-Machine Head) replacing Marc Rizzo on lead guitar. This shift contributed to a more structured, hook-oriented approach. The album is notable for its bilingual lyrical delivery, particularly on the hit single 'How Can I Live', which featured on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack. Critically, it is viewed as a landmark of the late nu-metal era, successfully integrating auxiliary percussion like congas and bongos into a heavy metal framework. It debuted at #37 on the Billboard 200 and remains their most commercially successful release, certified Gold in several territories.
