Released in 2001, Contact! served as the ambitious follow-up to Eiffel 65's global breakthrough, Europop. While their debut was anchored by the massive success of 'Blue (Da Ba Dee),' Contact! sees the Italian trio - Jeffrey Jey, Maurizio Lobina, and Gabry Ponte - refining their 'Italo-dance' formula into a more cohesive and thematic long-player. The album is characterized by its heavy use of the Digitech Talker and pitch-correction software, which became the band's sonic signature. Musically, it stays true to the Eurodance template but incorporates elements of trance and house, particularly in the Gabry Ponte remixes included on the tracklist. Lyrically, the album takes a surprising turn toward the existential and spiritual, with tracks like 'I Don't Wanna Lose' and 'Journey' exploring themes of cosmic isolation and inner truth.
