Count Your Blessings is the 2006 debut studio album by Bring Me the Horizon, a record that remains a polarizing cornerstone of the deathcore genre. Recorded at DEP International Studios in Birmingham, the album was produced by Dan Sprigg during a period of intense pressure for the young band. Musically, it is a significant departure from the band's later stadium-rock and electronic-pop directions, focusing instead on a fusion of Swedish melodic death metal (specifically At the Gates and In Flames) and American metalcore. The album is characterized by Oliver Sykes' dual-vocal approach of high-pitched screams and low growls, coupled with Lee Malia’s technical riffing. Despite the band later distancing themselves from the release due to its 'over-excited' nature and rushed writing process, it remains a cult classic of the MySpace era. It debuted at number 93 on the UK Albums Chart and has since become a foundational text for the UK extreme metal scene.
