Cover Art

Released in late 2013, Cover Art is a pivotal EP that showcases Anderson .Paak's ability to cross-pollinate genres. Following his debut as Breezy Lovejoy, this project served as a definitive statement of his new artistic identity. The EP consists of six covers of songs by white rock and folk artists (The White Stripes, The Postal Service, The Beatles, etc.), which .Paak reimagines as soulful, funk-inflected R&B. This conceptual choice was a deliberate nod to the history of rock and roll, where white artists frequently covered Black musicians; .Paak effectively reverses that historical trend.
