Released in 1985, Cuori agitati marks the formal arrival of Eros Ramazzotti as a major force in European pop. Produced by Piero Cassano of Matia Bazar, the album successfully bridged the gap between the traditional melodicism of the Sanremo Music Festival and the contemporary synth-pop sounds dominating the international charts. The record is anchored by two massive hits: 'Terra promessa', which won the New Voices category at Sanremo in 1984, and 'Una storia importante', which became a cross-border success in France and Switzerland. Sonically, the album is characterized by its use of the DX7 synthesizer, LinnDrum-style percussion, and clean electric guitar leads, all serving as a backdrop for Ramazzotti's unique tenor.
