Dead by April

Released in 2009, Dead by April's self-titled debut served as a polarizing but commercially successful landmark in the Swedish metal scene. Entering the Swedish charts at No. 2, it famously outpaced major international releases like Eminem's Relapse. The album is largely comprised of re-recorded versions of demo tracks that had already built the band a significant online following, supplemented by new compositions like 'What Can I Say.' Sonically, it is defined by the interplay between Jimmie Strimell's harsh vocals and Pontus Hjelm's clean, melodic delivery. This record is the only one to feature guitarist Johan Olsson, contributing to its specific riff-heavy but melodic character.
