Released in early 2021, Distractions is the 13th studio album from Tindersticks and serves as a significant stylistic departure. The album is structured in two distinct halves: the first features three original compositions, including the sprawling, 11-minute 'Man Alone (Can't Stop the Fadin')', while the second half consists of three highly stylized covers of artists like Neil Young and Dory Previn, concluding with the atmospheric 'The Bough Bends'. Critics noted that while the band's signature noir-inflected baritone remains, the lush chamber pop elements are largely traded for art-rock experimentation and electronic textures.
