Double Live Assassins is a visceral document of a band shedding its neon-lit past for a much darker, more abrasive future. Recorded during the 1997 world tour, the album captures W.A.S.P. at their most industrial and nihilistic. The signature buzzsaw guitar tone is present, but it is layered with a 90s grime that makes even the 80s hits sound like they were forged in a furnace. It is the sound of a band refusing to become a nostalgia act, instead doubling down on aggression and theatrical malice.
