Released in 2006 on Flameshovel Records, Enter is the debut studio album by Chicago-based trio Russian Circles. It established their signature 'loop-and-layer' composition style, where guitarist Mike Sullivan creates live loops that allow the trio to sound like a much larger ensemble. The album is notable for its continuous flow; the band utilized fade-outs and cross-fades to ensure the six tracks function as a cohesive suite rather than a collection of singles. Most of the material originated from their self-titled EP, but the re-recordings for Enter provided a much-needed hi-fi clarity that emphasized the power of Dave Turncrantz's drumming. Critically, the album was hailed as a breath of fresh air in the post-rock scene, with AllMusic noting its ability to balance 'beauty and brutality' without relying on the genre's standard 'quiet-loud-quiet' tropes.
