EP2 is the second installment in Three Trapped Tigers' initial trilogy of EPs, a period that defined their signature sound before their debut full-length. Recorded in London, the EP showcases the trio's ability to bridge the gap between the technicality of math rock and the textures of IDM. Unlike many of their peers who leaned into the 'math' aspect with clean guitars, TTT utilized heavy synth saturation and distorted textures, creating a sound that BBC Music noted for its 'unrelenting energy' and 'frightening precision.' The drumming of Adam Betts is particularly central here, mimicking the complexity of Squarepusher or Aphex Twin tracks but with the physical impact of a live rock performance. This EP solidified their reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in the UK experimental scene, blending the cerebral with the visceral in a way that few instrumental bands have managed since.
