For Emma, Forever Ago

A legendary winter-cabin document of isolation. Layered falsetto choirs, dusty acoustic guitars, and raw, tape-saturated catharsis recorded in the Wisconsin woods.

Debut

A creaking, tape-hissed intimacy defines this self-recorded debut, tracked during a three-month period of physical and emotional recovery in a secluded Medford cabin. Using a sparse setup of basic microphones and vintage gear, the songs build an unexpected, ghostly choral architecture from layered vocal tracks. What emerges is a raw, private exorcism where the scrape of fingers on steel strings and the wooden resonance of the guitar body feel as heavy as the quiet surrounding them.

Love Lost+2.6σ

The songwriting plunges deeper into love lost than the rest of the catalogue, obsessing over the cold ashes of a specific, paralyzing romantic ruin.

03Skinny LoveThe acoustic guitar on 'Skinny Love' is dry and close-mic'd, capturing the physical rattle of the instrument's wooden body.
04The Wolves, Act I and IIA sudden, layered vocal swell on 'The Wolves, Act I and II' transforms a quiet acoustic pattern into a dense, multi-tracked choir.
09re: stacksThe album closes with 're: stacks', a quiet performance where a creaking chair and tape hiss are audible alongside the guitar.

Reviews
Critic Consensus

Critics widely praised the album for its intimate, rustic atmosphere and the raw, vulnerable warmth of the falsetto vocals and spare acoustic arrangements. While some reviewers felt the low-fidelity recording style occasionally obscured the clarity of the music, the record was broadly admired for its deeply comforting emotional resonance.
