Foregrow EP

Released on Record Store Day in 2016 through Acid Test, the Foregrow EP represents a significant milestone in John Frusciante's transition into electronic music. While his previous electronic efforts often leaned toward pure IDM or abstract glitch, Foregrow incorporates elements of 1980s film scores (notably John Carpenter) and classic acid house. The title track features his signature falsetto, providing a rare human anchor in an otherwise machine-dominated landscape. The recording process heavily utilized modular synthesizers and hardware sequencers, emphasizing a 'live' jam-based approach to electronic composition. Critically, it is viewed as one of his most cohesive electronic releases, successfully blending his melodic instincts with the rigorous technical demands of modular synthesis. It stands as a bridge between his 'PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone' era and his more purist acid house work under the Trickfinger moniker.
