Golden Sea EP

Released in late 2010, the Golden Sea EP served as the definitive introduction to the Finnish band French Films. While coming from the cold climate of Helsinki, the band paradoxically embraced a sound heavily indebted to surf rock and sun-drenched indie pop, albeit filtered through a moody, European post-punk lens. The EP is characterized by its heavy use of reverb, which acts as a structural element rather than just an effect, creating a sense of distance and longing.
