Released in 2009 as a companion piece to his 'Totems Flare' era, Growls Garden represents Chris Clark's peak fascination with high-energy, distorted IDM. While his earlier work leaned into more pastoral or ambient-leaning glitch, this EP is characterized by a much harder, industrial edge. The production is famously 'crunchy,' utilizing heavy compression and analog saturation to give the electronic elements a physical, almost bruising presence. Tracks like 'Gonk Roughage' showcase his ability to program drums that feel both chaotic and mathematically precise.
