Hexadic

Hexadic represents a radical shift for Six Organs of Admittance, moving away from the 'New Weird America' folk aesthetic into a territory of high-concept noise and experimental rock. The album is the first recorded manifestation of the 'Hexadic System,' a compositional method developed by Ben Chasny that uses a deck of cards and a series of geometric charts to determine notes, rhythms, and structures. This system was designed to bypass the artist's habits and subconscious preferences, resulting in music that sounds fundamentally 'other.' Recorded with a full band including members of Comets on Fire, the album emphasizes heavy, distorted electric textures and erratic rhythmic patterns. While Chasny's interest in the occult and philosophy has always been present, Hexadic turns those interests into a literal engine for sound. It stands as one of the most challenging and intellectually rigorous entries in his vast discography, bridging the gap between free jazz spontaneity and rigorous mathematical constraint.
