Holy Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues - EP

Released in late 2016, 'Holy Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues' serves as a companion piece to The Coral's eighth studio album, 'Distance Inbetween'. Rather than a standard collection of b-sides, the EP features radical reinterpretations and remixes that lean heavily into the motorik and krautrock influences present on the parent album. The centerpiece is the Andy Votel 'De-Mix' of 'Holy Revelation', which stretches the original track into an 8-minute exercise in psychedelic minimalism and tape-saturated drone. This release highlights the band's collaboration with the Finders Keepers label circle, moving away from their Britpop-adjacent roots toward a more experimental, art-rock aesthetic. Critically, it was viewed as a bold statement of intent, showcasing the band's willingness to deconstruct their own sound.
