Human Nature

Released in 1998, Human Nature marked America's 14th studio effort and served as a refined continuation of the melodic soft rock path they re-established with 1994's Hourglass. While many of their 70s peers had drifted into chasing contemporary trends, Beckley and Bunnell leaned into their strengths: travel-centric songwriting and impeccable vocal arrangements. The album is notable for its thematic cohesion, centered almost entirely on the concept of the journey, exemplified by tracks like 'From a Moving Train' and 'Wheels Are Turning.' Sonically, it bridges the gap between their classic folk-rock roots and a more modern adult contemporary sound, featuring contributions from longtime collaborators and a polished, hi-fi mix.
