I Missed Us

Released in 2012, I Missed Us marked SWV's first studio album in fifteen years, following their 1997 disbandment. Produced largely by Cainon Lamb, the project served as a definitive 'comeback' that eschewed the EDM-pop trends of its release year to double down on the '90s hip-hop soul' sound the group helped pioneer. Notably, this album features a more democratic vocal distribution, with Taj and Lelee taking on more lead duties than in previous eras, though Coko's distinctive soprano remains the group's sonic anchor. The album's centerpiece is a faithful, Grammy-nominated cover of Patti LaBelle's 'If Only You Knew,' which highlights their traditional R&B credentials.
