Initial Granada Report

Released in 2019, Initial Granada Report marked the end of a 17-year studio silence for 808 State. Serving as the first of two teaser EPs for the full-length 'Transmission Suite', the project was recorded at the former Granada Studios in Manchester - a site of immense local cultural history. This environment deeply influenced the record's sonic character, which leans heavily into the 'Granada' theme of broadcast signals and urban decay. The EP features a leaner, more modular-focused sound compared to the lush arrangements of 'Don Solaris' or 'Ex:el'. It bridges the gap between the group's acid house roots and contemporary IDM, showcasing Graham Massey and Andrew Barker's ability to manipulate hardware with a veteran's intuition. Critically, it was received as a sophisticated return that proved the group's relevance in a modern electronic landscape dominated by their own disciples.
