jj n° 1 is a fleeting, ten-minute hallucination that redefined the boundaries of indie pop at the tail end of the 2000s. Emerging from the secretive Sincerely Yours stable in Sweden, the duo of Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander crafted a sound that felt both incredibly intimate and strangely distant. It sounds like a cassette tape left on a dashboard in the sun until the edges of the music began to melt and blur. The production is characterized by a heavy layer of tape saturation and room ambience, making every pluck of the acoustic guitar feel like it is happening in the corner of your bedroom.
