Jupiter Calling

Jupiter Calling, released in 2017, represents the most significant sonic pivot in The Corrs' discography. Following the more contemporary-leaning White Light, the band sought a radical change in process, enlisting legendary producer T Bone Burnett. The album was recorded almost entirely live to two-inch tape at RAK Studios, a method that stripped away the layered overdubbing and digital correction typical of their previous work. This 'first-take' philosophy resulted in a record that is sonically closer to 1970s folk-rock and Americana than the Celtic-pop that made them global stars. Lyrically, the album is notably more outward-looking, featuring 'SOS (Song of Syria),' their most explicitly political track. While critics were divided on the lack of traditional pop hooks, the album is praised by fans for its warmth, authenticity, and the sophisticated restraint of its arrangements, particularly on the atmospheric closer 'The Sun and the Moon.'
