Kill City

Recorded in 1975 but unreleased until 1977, Kill City is a collaborative effort between Iggy Pop and guitarist James Williamson. It serves as the bridge between the collapse of The Stooges and Iggy's solo resurgence with David Bowie. The recording sessions took place while Iggy was a resident at the UCLA neuropsychiatric institute, with Williamson smuggling him out to record vocals. This context is audible in the album's frayed edges and lyrical focus on addiction, hustling, and mental instability.
