Kings of Convenience

Released in 2000, this self-titled debut (often referred to as the 'Kind of Blue' of indie folk) established Kings of Convenience as the leaders of the 'Quiet is the New Loud' movement. Recorded in London but deeply rooted in their Bergen, Norway origins, the album is a masterclass in minimalist arrangement. While later albums would introduce light percussion and bossa nova influences, this record remains their most stark and purely acoustic statement.
