L’aventura

Released in 2014, L’aventura represents a significant conceptual pivot for Sébastien Tellier. Inspired by the idea of reinventing his own childhood in Brazil - a country he had no actual connection to as a child - the album is a meticulously crafted piece of 'imaginary folklore.' To achieve the authentic Brazilian sound he craved, Tellier traveled to Rio de Janeiro to record with the iconic arranger Arthur Verocai. This collaboration is the album's defining feature, infusing Tellier’s synth-pop with the rich, complex string and horn arrangements characteristic of 1970s Brazilian masterpieces. The record moves away from the cold, sleek lines of French Touch toward a warmer, more organic palette. Critically, it was praised for its ambition and its ability to balance Tellier's eccentric persona with genuine musical sophistication.
