Released in 1985, Le Parc is a definitive document of Tangerine Dream's 'Blue Years' on the Jive Electro label. It marks a significant departure from their long-form 'Kosmische' roots toward a more structured, melodic, and commercially viable sound. The album is a concept record where each track is named after a famous park somewhere in the world, ranging from New York's Central Park to Kyoto's Zen Garden. This thematic focus resulted in shorter, more disciplined compositions that utilized the cutting-edge digital technology of the time, specifically the Yamaha DX7 and various Roland sequencers. While some longtime fans missed the sprawling analog improvisations of the 1970s, Le Parc was praised for its technical precision and evocative melodies.
