Leviathan III

Leviathan III (2023) concludes the ambitious trilogy started by Therion in 2021. While the first two installments focused on 'hit-oriented' symphonic metal and melancholic atmospheres respectively, Part III is the most experimental and progressive of the set. It marks a return to the band's more adventurous songwriting seen in the late 90s, incorporating diverse influences like flamenco on 'Duende' and folk-horror vibes on 'Midsommarblot'. The album is a testament to Christofer Johnsson's role as a pioneer of the genre, utilizing a wide array of guest vocalists and a full professional choir to achieve a level of sonic density few peers can match.
