Locke High 2

Released in 2011, Locke High 2 is a pivotal document in Terrace Martin's evolution from a sought-after hip-hop producer to a leading figure in the nu-jazz movement. Named after his alma mater, Locke High School - a legendary breeding ground for LA musical talent - the album serves as both a tribute to his roots and a manifesto for his 'Poly-Sci' (Polished Science) production style. The record features a wide array of collaborators, bridging the gap between underground rap and the jazz elite. Sonically, it is defined by its use of the talkbox, lush Rhodes piano, and Martin's own fluid alto saxophone work.
