Long Stories

Released in 2019 on his own Nomark label, Long Stories is a significant stylistic departure for Amon Tobin, moving away from the dense foley-driven breakbeats of 'Bricolage' or 'ISAM' toward a lush, melodic ambient sound. The album was reportedly created using a single instrument - the Suzuki Omnichord - processed through various analog and digital chains to create a 'broken' yet beautiful aesthetic. This self-imposed limitation resulted in a more cohesive and emotionally direct record than his more experimental outings. Critics noted the album's shift toward 'pastoral' and 'cinematic' territory, comparing its textural depth to the works of Boards of Canada or Fennesz.
