Love at First Sting

Love at First Sting represents the commercial and creative zenith of Scorpions' career. Recorded primarily at Dieter Dierks' studios in Cologne, the album saw the band perfecting a formula that blended heavy metal grit with pop-sensible melodies. While the band's lineup was officially stable, the sessions were famously fraught with rumors of session musicians, including bassist Jimmy Bain and drummer Bobby Rondinelli, contributing to the tracks while regular members dealt with personal issues. Despite this behind-the-scenes turbulence, the resulting record is remarkably cohesive.
