Love & Revolution

Released in 2011 on Impulse! and Schema, Love & Revolution represents Nicola Conte's most ambitious project to date. Moving beyond his reputation as a lounge and bossa nova revivalist, Conte assembled an international cast of musicians (including Gregory Porter and José James) to create a record inspired by the spiritual jazz movement of the late 60s and early 70s. The album was recorded using vintage microphones and analog equipment to achieve a specific sonic patina that mimics the classic Blue Note and Impulse! catalogs. Lyrically, the album explores themes of social consciousness, African heritage, and spiritual awakening, marking a departure from the more hedonistic themes of his earlier work.
