Midwinter Graces

Released in 2009, Midwinter Graces marked a significant stylistic pivot for Tori Amos, moving away from the rock-oriented structures of 'Abnormally Attracted to Sin' toward a more formal, classical sound. While categorized as a holiday album, it focuses heavily on the winter solstice and pagan themes rather than strictly Christian imagery. Amos worked with long-time collaborators John Philip Shenale for orchestral arrangements, resulting in a sound that critics noted for its 'return to form' regarding her baroque-pop sensibilities.
