Mind Body & Soul is the second studio album by British singer Joss Stone, released in 2004 following the massive success of her covers-based debut, The Soul Sessions. This record marked her transition into songwriting, with Stone co-writing 11 of the 14 original tracks. Recorded primarily in Miami and New York, the album features a 'who's who' of soul royalty and session legends, including Betty Wright and Nile Rodgers. Sonically, it departs from the raw, stripped-back feel of her debut toward a more polished, 'Contemporary R&B' sound while retaining the analog warmth of 70s soul. The album was a commercial juggernaut, making Stone the youngest female soloist to top the UK Albums Chart. It solidified her role as a central figure in the mid-2000s British soul revival, alongside artists like Amy Winehouse and Duffy, though Stone’s sound leaned more toward American Southern soul and funk than her peers.
