More Specials

Released in 1980, More Specials is the second studio album by The Specials and represents one of the most drastic stylistic shifts in post-punk history. Following the massive success of their self-titled debut, which defined the 2 Tone ska movement, the band moved away from high-tempo dance music toward a murky, experimental sound influenced by lounge music, exotica, and northern soul. Produced by Jerry Dammers, the recording process was famously fraught with internal tension, which is reflected in the album's anxious and fragmented atmosphere.
