Nabuma Rubberband marks a pivotal moment in Little Dragon's discography, representing their most polished and atmospheric work to date. Recorded in their hometown of Gothenburg, the album saw the band move away from the jittery, minimalist funk of Ritual Union toward a more expansive, 'sonically romantic' sound. A key differentiator for this record was the collaboration with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, marking the first time the group integrated outside classical musicians into their process. This orchestral presence, combined with co-writing contributions from Dave of De La Soul and production touches from Robin Hannibal, resulted in a richer, more layered sonic palette.
