Nerve Net

Released in 1992, Nerve Net marked Brian Eno's return to vocal-led, rhythmically driven music after a long period focused on ambient and installation work. Originally conceived as a project titled 'My Squelchy Life' (which was shelved and later partially integrated here), the album reflects Eno's interest in 'organizing' chaos. It features contributions from a diverse array of musicians, including Robert Fripp and Benmont Tench, yet it remains distinctly electronic and sample-heavy. The album is notable for its 'Ali Click' and 'Fractal Zoom' singles, which showcased Eno's take on industrial pop and house-adjacent rhythms. Critically, it is viewed as a bridge between his 'Berlin Trilogy' production style and the more digital, fragmented textures of the late 20th century.
