Not of This Earth

Released in 1995, Not of This Earth (also known as I'm Alright Jack and the Beanstalk in some territories) represents a unique chapter in The Damned's history. Recorded during a period of lineup flux, it features Dave Vanian as the sole original member, backed by a powerhouse band including Rat Scabies on drums. Sonically, the album moves away from the psychedelic experimentation of the mid-80s and returns to a more direct, guitar-driven punk and alternative rock sound, albeit with the '90s penchant for thick, compressed production. It was recorded at various studios in London and the US, resulting in a sound that is more 'stadium-ready' than their DIY roots.
