Oppefra & Ned

Released in 2012, Oppefra & Ned is Søren Huss's second solo effort and a deliberate departure from the heavy, grief-stricken atmosphere of his debut, Troen & Ingen. Recorded primarily at Saybia's studio in Køge, the album sees Huss collaborating with his 'Hussband' to create a sound that is notably more up-tempo and rhythmically driven. Huss famously described the record as a 'musical kick in the ass,' signaling his intent to move beyond the identity of the mourning artist. The lead single, 'Den der isme,' showcases this shift with its roots in old-fashioned protest songs, though written from a place of modern impotence rather than 1970s moralism. Commercially, the album was a major success in Denmark, debuting at number one and achieving gold certification. It solidified Huss as a premier voice in Danish contemporary music, capable of balancing mainstream appeal with deep, uncompromising artistic integrity.
