Out to Die

Released in 2012, Out to Die represents Aura Noir at their most refined yet paradoxically most primitive. As the band's fifth full-length, it solidified their reputation as the 'ugliest band in the world,' a title they wear with pride. The album is notable for its lean runtime and lack of filler, with eight tracks that average four minutes of high-octane blackened thrash. While many of their peers in the Norwegian scene moved toward progressive or symphonic elements, Aura Noir doubled down on the influence of 80s German thrash and first-wave black metal. The recording features a prominent bass presence from Apollyon and the signature raspy snarl of Aggressor, creating a dual-vocal dynamic that adds layers to the chaos. Critically, it was praised for its authenticity and its ability to sound genuinely dangerous in an era of over-produced digital metal.
