Overdrive occupies a unique and somewhat mythical place in Oliver Francis's discography. Originally intended as his third full-length commercial follow-up to 2017's A Million Miles An Hour, the project became a 'lost' album of sorts. After being teased as 'Overdrive 1992' and undergoing multiple tracklist revisions over two years, Francis famously scrapped the full-length version despite a promotional tour. The resulting 6-track release serves as a distilled essence of that era's creative output. Sonically, it represents the peak of his sun-bleached cloud rap style, blending melodic trap influences with a lo-fi, DIY aesthetic that defined the late 2010s SoundCloud scene. Tracks like 'Glass House' and 'Kids in America' showcase his ability to craft infectious hooks within a dense, atmospheric production style.
