Peacemaker

Released in early 2024, Peacemaker marks a significant sonic expansion for Vera Sola. Following her self-produced debut 'Shades', which was famously recorded in total isolation, this sophomore effort introduces a collaborative palette. Co-produced with Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids, the album moves away from the 'skeletal folk' label toward a more robust 'Americana noir' sound. The recording features a diverse array of instrumentation, including strings, brass, and the Swarmatron, an analog synthesizer known for its organic, swarming pitch clusters. Critics from Mojo and Uncut noted that while the arrangements are far denser than her previous work, the songwriting remains the primary anchor. The album explores themes of conflict, lineage, and the weight of the past, often utilizing a theatrical delivery that bridges the gap between 1940s vocal pop and modern indie-rock. It stands as a pivotal moment in her career, proving her voice can command a full orchestra as effectively as a single guitar.
